Crown and Bridge

If your tooth has extensive decay or damage, or you would like cosmetic enhancements to your smile your dentist can help by providing a crown (sometimes called a cap). Crowns are designed to blend perfectly with your existing teeth and a bridge of two or three crowns can even fill the gap left by a missing tooth.

There are three types of crowns;

All Ceramic - Completely metal free, offering the most natural appearance with high strength and avoiding allergic reactions or metallic taste

Metal Ceramic - Porcelain bonded to a metal alloy base, providing maximum strength to cope with biting pressures. Full gold - Strong but difficult to miss

Other options include Ceramic Veneers for cosmetic improvements on front teeth and all Ceramic, Resin or Metal Inlays (A stronger type of filling for back teeth)

Dentures

There's no reason why false teeth should look artificial! Whether they are partial or full dentures, they can closely match your original dentition.

Teeth differ in size and shape from one person to another, so it is important to get the combination that provides the correct look and functionality.

Individualised aspects include:

Appearance of teeth - Superior brands have different layers of material, internal characterisations and translucent tips for a natural look. Plus a wider range of shades, shapes and sizes.

Contouring - The gum work can be carved to reproduce the way your gums looked before you lost your teeth and gum colouring can match your skin tone.

Set up - Dentures can reproduce your individual biting positions to improve the efficiency of your bite and work in harmony with your muscles, lips, cheeks and tongue to increase their function.

Frameworks for partial dentures frequently combine resin with chrome, which is strong, thin and light while still being kind to your gum margins. Some dentures also feature tooth-coloured claps to blend in discreetly with existing teeth.

We also offer flexible dentures using the TCS system, combining comfort and fit.

Orthodontics

If your teeth require straightening or your mouth is too crowded, orthodontic treatment using a brace may be recommended.

The use of a brace might be for cosmetic reasons or because the way the teeth are aligned is causing problems such as pain due to an uncomfortable bite or difficulty with cleaning. Over a period of time (generally 1-2 years) a brace should correct the situation.

Orthodontic treatment is generally given to children and teenagers although increasing numbers of adults are also opting for it. In some cases extractions or special night time head gear may be required.

There are several different types of brace:

  • Removable - A plate with wires and springs
  • Fixed - Wires, springs and bands are attached to brackets cemented onto the teeth
  • Retainer - A removable brace for use after the main treatment
  • Invisible - Sets of transparent plastic aligners

Dental laboratories also produce a wide range of appliances to help solve problems with peoples existing teeth or provide protection where it is needed most. You wear appliances as and when they are required on a temporary basis.

Gumshield - Also referred to as a sports guard, including a large selection of colours such as team strips and multi coloured

Bite Guard - For night time wear

Custom Trays - To assist cosmetic tooth whitening

Anti-snoring device - These do what the name suggests
